| Wedding belles set to have a ball for Meningitis UK |

 Wedding dresses will soon be coming off the hangers and dusted down ready for a special ball to help raise funds in memory of a young woman who died from meningitis.
Alice Austin, from Esher, is organising the Wedding Ball in memory of her daughter Gillian, who died from meningitis in 2005, and Gillian’s daughter Grace, who died just a few hours after being born prematurely.
The extravaganza takes place on Saturday, September 27 at Sandown Park racecourse in aid of charities Meningitis UK and Born Too Soon.
Former Radio 1 and Top of the Pops presenter David ‘Kid’ Jensen will also be making a guest appearance and live band Soul’d Out will be performing on the night.
Alice said: “We are hoping this will be a wonderful event, with great food, music and entertainment, and wearing a wedding dress isn’t compulsory of course. We just want people to have a lovely night and raise as much money as possible for Meningitis UK, to help put a stop to this devastating disease.”
Tickets for the ball cost £60 and include a three course meal and all entertainment. Exciting raffle prizes will also be on offer, including a week’s holiday at a Turkish villa.
Last year Meningitis UK launched its Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign to help raise £7million to fund vital research into developing a vaccine against Meningitis B - the most common form of meningitis in the UK. This accounts for almost 90 per cent of all cases in the UK and there is still no vaccine.
Meningitis UK’s Chief Executive Steve Dayman said: “Meningitis UK has a single focus – to find a vaccine to eradicate meningitis. The majority of the research we fund adds value to work already being undertaken by industry to ensure we reach our goal even faster and save more lives.
“Every bit of help is so important in enabling us to continue our vital work and will take us one step closer to finding a vaccine.”

| WEDGWOOD HOTLINE SNOWED UNDER BY WRAPIT BRIDES |

 Brides from all over Britain have inundated a Wedgwood telephone hotline set up following the collapse of the Wrapit internet wedding list site.
In the first hour alone, more than 50 brides-to-be called the luxury ceramics manufacturer to take up an offer of free priority delivery of Wedgwood products re-ordered through the company, with many qualifying for a special gift voucher offer available from Wedgwood to disappointed Wrapit brides.
A Wedgwood spokesman said: ‘As soon as the news was out that Wedgwood was directly stepping in to help the phones just lit up.
The hotline has been a tremendous success, with most brides hugely relieved to be able to lift this weight off their shoulders. Many have also qualified for Wedgwood gift vouchers for future purchases, with one lady being eligible for over £1,000 towards future purchases. She was delighted!’
Wedgwood, which has nothing to with the failed internet wedding supply company, launched the Hotline- 01782 282750-last week.The company is offering free delivery on any Wrapit wedding lists re-ordered through the Hotline and also giving brides who re-order a £25 gift voucher for every £100 they spend, redeemable against future purchases.
The free delivery offer will extend until December 31st, with gift vouchers remaining valid until Spring 2009 on future product purchased from Wedgwood. Brides with Wrapit wedding lists that include products by Royal Doulton and Rosenthal are also asked to contact the customer services hotline.
